TSA vision:
The National Forest Teaching School at John Taylor High School offers the School Direct route into teaching. School Direct is an exciting and innovative one year school led training programme, which enables schools to take a leading role in ITT but still work in partnership with accredited providers. We work collaboratively on the selection and recruitment of trainees as well as the design and delivery of an outstanding programme. Our School Direct programme is a one year full time route into teaching which will enable successful trainees to achieve QTS with a Post Graduate Certificate of Education, or QTS with Masters level credits.
For us School Direct is very much part of our recruitment process, but only Year 1 of a 3 year support package. We offer an NQT and NQT+1 programme and aim to provide opportunities for those interested to complete their Master's level studies within their 3rd and 4th year.
As well as attracting trainees who have the potential to be high quality teachers, we also seek to identify at interview candidates with leadership potential. Our successful NQT and NQT + 1 programmes build seamlessly on from our Initial Teacher Education Programmes. Both programmes not only support and coach teachers in the first two years of their career to improve their practice in the classroom, but also encourage them to develop and accelerate their careers.
